Selling Your Home in Winter
A number of our clients have asked whether they should list their homes in December or wait until January or even Spring. Your needs as a seller is what determines the best answer but there are pros and cons to each scenario. In general, listing and showing your home during the holidays is inconvenient. Imagine keeping your home tidy and spotless while overrun with guests, or being concerned about strangers in your home while you’re traveling. However, waiting all the way until Spring means postponing your plans and we can never predict how the real estate market might change several months ahead. January is a great option since there will be less homes on the market making yours stand out, and buyers who need to shop in winter tend to be more motivated and serious. Realty Today has a good article that explains why we recommend you prepare now so your home can hit the market right after New Year’s.
